FEAR

Chapter 4
Text 10
Shlok: vita raga bhaya krodha man maya mam upasritah
            bahavo jnana tapasa puta mad bhavam agatah

Translation: Being freed from attachment, fear, and anger, being fully absorbed in Me and taking refuge in Me, many, many persons in the past became purified by knowledge of Me- and thus they all attained transcendental love for Me.


FEELING SINFUL

Chapter 4 /
Text 36
Shlok: api ced asi papebhyah sarvebhyah papa krt tamah
           sarvam jnana plavenaiva vrjinam santarisyasi

Translation: Even if you are considered to be the most sinful of all the sinners when you are situated in the boat of transcendental knowledge you will be able to cross over the ocean of miseries.

Shlok: yathaidhamsi samiddho 'gnir bhasma sat kurute 'rjuna
           jnanagnih sarva- karmani bhasma sat kurute tatha

Translation: As a blazing fire turns firewood to ashes, O Arjuna, so does the fire of knowledge burn to ashes al reaction to material activities.


LAZINESS

Chapter 3

Shlok: niyatam kuru karma tvam karma jyayo hy akarmanah
           sarira- yatrapi ca te na prasiddhyed akarmanah

Translation: Perform your prescribed duty, for doing so is better than not working. One cannot even maintain one's physical body without work.

Text 20
Shlok: karmanaiva hi samsiddhim asthita janakadayah
           loka-sangraham evapi sampasyan kartum arhasi

Translation: Kings such as Janaka attained perfection solely by the performance of prescribed duties. Therefore, just for the sake of educating the people in general, you should perform your work.
