Becoming - Netflix Documentary Review

Becoming - Michelle Obama's Netflix documentary review - ediblorial

Becoming- A Netflix Documentary on Michelle Obama the First Lady of America is a 1 hour 30 min documentary full of accomplishment, proficiency, and growth from her book tour.
The book is still on my reading list but I thought to first watch the documentary about her journey and some hardship she faced being the first "Black First lady".
The documentary is all about her interviews during her book tour with Ophrah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Jessica Parker, Phoebe, Canon O'Brien, Gayle King, and Stephen Colbert.
The interview has also embraced her mother, her brother, husband, and kids some vital people in her life.

Mrs. Obama is been seen rounding herself with teenage girls where the girls have the privilege to ask her questions and get inspired by her philosophy on life and moreover on her hardships as a first "Black First lady". She is seen communicating and circling herself with younger and stronger minded girls and discussing with them the way channelize ourselves and become what you wish for.
The documentary is a reflection about her lifestyle, about her life in the White House, and how life brought a new opportunity for her to see the world differently. She said in the roundtable while with the girls " it takes time to figure out what life needs and process it accordingly".

Michelle Obama's down to earth quality will make you fall in love with her. Her appearance in each interview and her sense of humor about her upbringing, her husband's support and elections, and her life at Whitehouse is commendable and appreciated.

The best line from the documentary was:
When her brother Craig Robinson says he never knew her sister would be famous in the whole wide world. " Everybody knows my sister What is that? That’s dumb; Nobody should have to deal with that. No one. No brother should have to deal with their sister being the most popular person in the world". The bewilderment and admiration towards her sister portray the dynamics in the family.

Another one, where she had to have a meeting with Josh Bush's wife regarding their stay in the Whitehouse she observed every butler had a tuxedo on and that was their uniform which she didn't approve of.
" She said she never let the butler or the cleaning staff let them help her kids to make their beds, do the laundry,  clean their room, etc. She said my kids are not going to stay here permanently and can't get habituated of this system".
This line had my soul towards her style of upbringing her children as a normal individual.

There were many instances in the film which exhibited her facing the racism during the trail and in White House and how she had to overcomes it with her simplicity.
There is a little glimpse of her daughters. I wish there were more about their lifestyle as growing as a daughter of the First Lady and the President of America

I admire the heck out of Michelle Obama, not because she was able to achieve so much but with all the hardship she faced being the first lady as the nation seemed against yet fighting for the right and marking her own territory. She made the job of her own with a sense of humor and compassion.
It is really a "streaming right now kind" of a documentary that has a portrait of how Michelle Obama is. She states this documentary is for the younger generation wherein she mentions that young minds are the real aspiration and the enhancer for a better world.
